My grandfather fished off Malvarrosa his whole life, so the beach and the old fishermen's houses behind it mean more to me than a postcard view. On camera I like pointing inland toward the rice fields before explaining how they connect to the dish everyone associates with this city. At Mercado Colón I slow down under the old ironwork, because the building's second life as cafes still surprises people who expect stalls.
