Thomas Studer

I grew up in Matte, the low quarter by the river that most visitors to the old town above never notice. On camera I show the old craftsmen's houses and the bars that have taken over some of them, then climb up to the Nydeggbrücke for the view every postcard of Bern copies. I like explaining how the two levels of the city relate, since Matte was built by people the old town looked down on quite literally. I keep sessions short and to the point, since the quarter itself is small. I answer questions as we walk rather than stopping to discuss them at length.
