The bridge view every postcard of Bern copies
Highlights
- Bern's most photographed river bend
- Old town rooftops from two heights
- Why the Aare turns so sharply here
- A short, focused single-view session
- The view behind Bern's postcards
About this tour
This short session covers the single view that appears on more postcards of Bern than any other, from the Nydeggbrücke and the steps below it. You see the old town's rooftops framed by the Aare's tight bend from two different heights. Thomas explains why the river takes such a sharp turn at exactly this point.
He starts on the bridge itself and then drops down to the steps for a lower angle on the same skyline. The whole session moves at a relaxed pace, since there is only the one view to properly take in.
This suits anyone who wants a short, focused session rather than a longer walk. It also works well paired with a fuller old town tour.

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Meringues with double cream and Matte, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
