Tomasz Zieliński

I was born and raised in Nowa Huta, the socialist new town that the communists built next to Kraków in 1949 to punish the old intellectual city with a steelworks. My father worked at the Lenin Steelworks for thirty years and my mother was a nurse in the district hospital. I have a degree in sociology, worked for a few years in a city planning office and started guiding in 2016. My tours are about the Kraków that is not in the Old Town: Nowa Huta, Podgórze across the river and the Tatra mountains, where I go every free weekend. I am not a joker and I will not pretend communism was funny, but I do not hide that my childhood in Nowa Huta was happy. I hike, I ski, and I have climbed Rysy, the highest peak in Poland, eleven times. You can now join my walks through Krakow live on video, from any device, and ask me questions as we go.
