About this tour

This session walks Podgórze and the site of the wartime ghetto, from the Bernatka footbridge to the empty chairs of Ghetto Heroes Square and a surviving stretch of the ghetto wall. The guide finishes at the Eagle Pharmacy and Schindler's former factory building. It is a serious, direct account of this part of Kraków's history.

The call opens with a brief sound check, then moves between the three stops at a measured pace, leaving room to take in each site before moving on. Questions are welcome throughout, and a short list of names and places follows once the call ends.

This suits anyone with a personal or historical interest in this period, whether or not a visit to Kraków is planned. It also suits anyone who wants the district explained by someone who walks it often.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Krakow before heading out.

  2. Bernatka footbridge 21 min

The camera crosses the Bernatka footbridge, its steel figures caught mid-acrobatic pose along the railing, and the guide explains why this crossing was chosen to link Kazimierz with Podgórze.

  3. Ghetto Heroes Square 21 min

In Ghetto Heroes Square, the camera moves among the rows of empty metal chairs, and the guide explains what they represent before walking to a surviving stretch of the ghetto wall on Lwowska street.

  4. Eagle Pharmacy and Schindler's factory 21 min

Outside the Eagle Pharmacy, the guide tells the story of Tadeusz Pankiewicz, who ran it inside the ghetto, before finishing at the building that once housed Schindler's enamel factory.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Krakow: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bigos and Old Town (Stare Miasto), worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.

  • Times are shown in Warsaw time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
