I trained as an archaeologist and worked on excavations near the Porta Praetoria before I started guiding, so the Roman gate still feels like unfinished business rather than a fixed monument. On camera I point out the layers of stone added over centuries on top of the original Roman work, explaining which parts are genuinely from the second century. My second session moves along the patrician towers built by rival merchant families competing for height across the skyline.
