Yannis Papoutsakis

I trained as a conservator at the Historical and Folklore Museum before I ever thought about guiding, so I still notice the stitching on the old textiles displayed there more than most visitors do. On camera I walk the narrow lanes first, pointing the phone up at the wooden Ottoman-era balconies that jut out above the street, then stop at the museum entrance to describe what the collection holds inside. I explain how the same lanes once belonged to Venetian merchants before the Ottoman period changed their upper floors completely. I answer questions about textiles and architecture equally happily.
