I have sold spices in Kemeraltı Bazaar since I left school, and I know which alleys stay busy until evening and which empty out by mid afternoon. Guiding came naturally once people kept stopping at my stall to ask directions rather than buy anything. On camera I like turning down a narrower lane that most visitors walk straight past, then explaining what used to be sold there a generation ago. I try to keep the frame close to the stalls themselves rather than wide shots of the crowd, because the detail is always in what is actually for sale.
