My family runs a cafe near Ridley Road Market, and Dalston is the part of London I actually know from the inside rather than from a guidebook. My evening sessions cover the bars and record shops as they open for the night, and my daytime ones follow the Regent's Canal towpath through Hackney, which most visitors never think to walk. I like showing how quickly the area's mood shifts between the market by day and the venues by night, since both feel like genuinely different neighbourhoods. I answer questions honestly, including about how the area has changed and who has been priced out of it.
