About this tour

This call is a planning session for anyone about to walk Aix on their own, built around the old town and Quartier Mazarin. We go through the layout together, when different squares are busiest, and which lanes are worth the extra few minutes. It is built to save you the guesswork rather than to replace the walk itself.

We start with a quick chat about how much time you have and what interests you most, then work through the route together on a shared map. You can ask about anything specific, a fountain, a shortcut, a quiet corner, and I will fold it into the plan. By the end you have a simple route with a few names to look out for.

This suits anyone who prefers to explore independently but wants local knowledge first. It also works well the evening before a first full day in Aix.

Itinerary

  1. Hello, and what you want to know 5 min

The guide calls you and asks what you are after: planning Aix-en-Provence, recommendations, or just questions.

  2. Mapping the old town 15 min

We go through the layout of the old town together, from Cours Mirabeau to the lanes around the cathedral, and I mark out a route to suit how much time you have. I note which squares are quiet in the morning.

  3. A shortlist for the afternoon 15 min

We narrow it down to a short loop through Quartier Mazarin and back, and I flag two courtyards worth stepping into along the way. You leave the call with a simple route and a few names to look out for.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Ask anything that is still on your mind, there is no fixed script.

  5. A written note after the call 3 min

You get a short follow-up message with everything mentioned, so you do not have to remember it all.

Good to know

  • A stable phone or internet connection, whichever the guide uses to reach you.
  • No app to install. You answer when the guide calls, or join a video call if you would rather.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The call is not recorded. Keep your own note of anything you want to remember, or wait for the follow-up message.
  • Have your questions ready, though there is time to think of more as you go.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
