Aksla, 418 steps above the town
Highlights
- Four hundred and eighteen steps, counted off
- A town spread across its own islands
- Fjords running off in different directions
- A route toward Geiranger, pointed out
- Ålesund's best view, climbed on camera
About this tour
This session climbs the Kongens utsikt stairway to Aksla, the viewpoint above Ålesund's town centre. You see the four hundred and eighteen steps gradually reveal the town below and, from the top, the full spread of islands and fjords around it. Terje points out which fjord leads further out toward Geiranger.
He climbs at a steady, honest pace, since the steps are real work even filmed rather than walked. At the top he slows right down, and questions about the different fjords visible come up as the view settles.
This suits anyone who wants Ålesund's best view without climbing the stairs themselves. It pairs with Terje's flatter session along Molovegen for a different kind of coastal view.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
