About this tour

This session walks through Balgove Larder, a farm shop and street food yard on the edge of St Andrews. You see shelves of local produce and a row of stalls in the covered yard outside, including one selling crab landed along the Fife coast. Morven explains where several of the products come from and why the area's farming and fishing still shape what's on offer.

After a short sound check inside, the session moves from the shop shelves out to the food stalls, with time for questions throughout. Morven answers as you go and sends a short list of her favourite stalls afterwards.

It suits anyone interested in Fife's food beyond the town centre, and works well before or after a golf-focused session. It also appeals to home cooks looking for local ingredients.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of St Andrews before heading out.

  2. The farm shop shelves 15 min

The camera moves along shelves stocked with local produce, cheeses and baked goods from farms around Fife. Morven points out a jar of honey from hives kept just outside town.

  3. The street food yard 15 min

Outside, a row of food stalls sits around a covered yard. Morven points out a stall selling fresh crab, explaining how it arrives straight from boats along the coast.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about St Andrews: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Shortbread and South Street, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in London time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
