About this tour

This session moves through a Belgrade evening, from a traditional kafana with a live band to a splav floating on the Sava. The camera follows the tamburica band, then a table of rakija and a meze spread of ajvar, kajmak and pršuta, before finishing on the river. It gives a sense of Belgrade's night life without a single fixed venue.

After a sound check, the guide moves between the kafana and the splav in order, sharing stories about the city's night life along the way, with questions taken throughout. A short list of the places and drinks named is sent once the call ends.

This suits anyone curious about Belgrade after dark, whether planning an evening out there or simply missing its bars and river clubs.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Belgrade before heading out.

  2. A traditional kafana 21 min

Inside a traditional kafana, the camera follows a live tamburica band mid-song, and the guide explains what makes this kind of tavern different from an ordinary bar or restaurant.

  3. Rakija on the table 21 min

The camera lines up three bottles of rakija, plum, quince and apricot, and the guide explains how each fruit changes the character of the spirit and how it is traditionally served.

  4. A meze spread 21 min

The camera moves across a spread of ajvar, kajmak and pršuta laid out on the table, and the guide explains what each one is made from and where it usually appears on a Serbian table.

  5. A splav on the Sava 21 min

The walk ends on a splav, a floating club moored on the Sava, and the guide tells stories of Belgrade's night life while the camera looks out over the lit river from the deck.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Belgrade: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pljeskavica and Skadarlija, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Belgrade time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

Questions about this tour

What will the session cover?

The guide walks through Belgrade, showing you St Sava Temple and Knez Mihailova Street live on camera, plus whatever else you would like to see.

What happens if my connection drops?

Rejoin with the same link within a few minutes and the guide will catch you up on anything you missed.

Can I ask the guide questions during the session, or is it a fixed script?

Anything, any time. Sessions leave room for your own questions throughout, not just at the end.

Is this suitable if I do not drink?

Yes. Say so when you book and the guide will focus on the atmosphere and venues rather than the drinks list.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
