Ulriken's ridge, Bergen's highest view
Highlights
- Bergen's highest surrounding peak
- Six other mountains, seen from the car
- A ridge used for hiking and paragliding
- Two mountains, compared side by side
- The widest view around the city
About this tour
This session rides the cable car up Ulriken and walks a stretch of the summit ridge, the highest of Bergen's seven surrounding mountains. You see the other peaks come into view during the ride and the wider landscape beyond the city from the ridge itself. Silje compares the view directly with the one from Fløyen on the opposite side of town.
She spends most of the session on the ridge, since the ground is level enough to walk while filming and the view keeps changing with the light. On the way down she slows again at a lower viewpoint to compare both mountains side by side.
This suits anyone who wants Bergen's highest view rather than its most convenient one. It also pairs well with Silje's second, lower session through Skuteviken's old streets.

The camera rides the cable car up Ulriken, Bergen's highest surrounding peak, and I point out the other six mountains coming into view as the car climbs.
-
The summit ridge 21 min
Walking a short stretch of the ridge at the top, you see far beyond the city on a clear day, and I explain why Ulriken is used for both hiking and paragliding launches.
-
Looking back at the city 21 min
From a lower viewpoint on the way down, the whole of Bergen sits below with Fløyen visible on the opposite side, and I compare the two mountains' views directly.

Time to ask anything about Bergen: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Smoked salmon and Nordnes, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
