  • Nordnes, beyond the fish market

About this tour

This session walks the full length of the Nordnes peninsula, from its older housing out to the aquarium at the tip. You see the close-packed painted homes, the shoreline park partway along, and the aquarium building from outside at the end. Ola treats the walk as an extension of his time at the fish market just behind it.

He keeps a steady pace out along the peninsula, slowing at the park since the shoreline view is worth a longer look. He answers questions about the aquarium's exhibits from outside the building, without needing to go in.

This suits anyone who enjoyed the fish market session and wants to keep walking toward the water. It also suits families, since the park and the aquarium exterior both work well on a shorter attention span.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Bergen before heading out.

  2. Old Nordnes housing 17 min

The camera moves through the peninsula's older housing, small painted homes packed close together on streets barely wide enough for a car.

  3. Nordnes park 17 min

Further out, the park along the shoreline opens up, and I point out the swimming spot locals use even in cooler weather.

  4. Aquarium exterior 17 min

The walk ends at the aquarium building at the peninsula's tip, seen from outside, where I describe some of the marine life kept inside without stepping in myself.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Bergen: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Fish soup (fiskesuppe) and Bryggen, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Oslo time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
