Charlottenburg Palace and its gardens
Highlights
- Berlin's largest palace, grown over reigns
- A garden's strict Baroque geometry
- A shift toward naturalistic design
- Two garden styles, one royal site
- Charlottenburg's grounds, explained slowly
About this tour
This session looks at Charlottenburg Palace and its gardens, from the palace's grand facade to the formal parterre and a more naturalistic English-style park. You see how the building grew over successive reigns from a modest summer house into its current scale. The session finishes in the naturalistic section of the grounds, laid out once garden fashion moved away from strict formality.
We open with a short sound check outside the palace. I move slowly through both garden styles and take questions about the building's history and the planting throughout. Afterwards I send a short note on what each section of the garden includes.
This suits anyone interested in Baroque architecture or the history of garden design. It also works well as a longer, relaxed session away from the busier city centre.

The camera takes in the largest palace in Berlin, and I explain how it grew over successive reigns from a modest summer house into the scale you see today.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
