Bodrum Castle: walls built by the Knights
Highlights
- Bodrum Castle's carved coats of arms
- The English Tower, explained
- Ancient stone reused in a new fortress
- Ramparts overlooking the harbour
- A fortress built by the Knights Hospitaller
About this tour
This session climbs through Bodrum Castle from the outer gate to the upper ramparts, tracing how the Knights Hospitaller built and defended it. You see carved coats of arms, the English Tower and the view down over the harbour the castle was built to control. Deniz explains how stone from the ruined Mausoleum ended up inside these same walls.
The call begins with a sound check at the entrance gate, then follows the walls up to the ramparts as Deniz points out the different towers along the way. He takes questions throughout and sends a short list of the towers and their builders afterwards.
This suits anyone who wants the full history of the castle from its construction to its position over the town today. It pairs well with a first look at the marina below.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
