Shipwreck cargo inside Bodrum Castle
Highlights
- Shipwreck cargo inside a crusader castle
- An 11th-century glass cargo wreck
- Amphorae stacked as they were found
- Diving and archaeology, explained together
- Objects held on camera, not rushed
About this tour
This session goes inside the Underwater Archaeology Museum housed within Bodrum Castle, focused on cargo recovered from shipwrecks off this coast. You see stacked amphorae and the remains of an 11th-century glass cargo ship displayed as they were mapped underwater. Ayşe, who worked a season alongside the archaeologists here, explains how each wreck was found and recorded.
The call opens with a sound check in the entrance hall, then moves room by room as Ayşe holds the camera on individual objects longer than a typical visit would allow. She answers questions as they come up and sends a short list of the wrecks covered afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in archaeology or diving rather than the castle's military history alone. It also works as an indoor session on a hot afternoon.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

- A short list of places to visit later

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
