  • Romania's royal history, on camera

About this tour

This session shows Peleș Castle in nearby Sinaia through its park, exterior and terraced gardens. You see the wooded approach King Carol I chose for his summer residence, then the ornate facade combining several architectural styles, finishing in the formal gardens below the building. The camera stays outside the castle throughout.

We open with a short sound check in the park. I keep a formal, detailed pace and take questions about the royal family as we go. Afterwards I send a short note on a few of the rooms described but not shown.

This suits anyone with an interest in Romania's royal history and architecture. It also works well booked alongside the Bran Castle session.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Brasov before heading out.

  2. The approach through the park 17 min

The camera follows the wooded park leading to the castle, and I explain how King Carol I chose this site for a summer residence.

  3. The castle's exterior 17 min

We stop in front of the ornate facade, and I point out the mix of architectural styles combined in its design.

  4. The terraced gardens 17 min

The session finishes in the formal gardens below the castle, and I describe a few of the rooms inside the camera cannot show.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Brasov: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Papanași (fried doughnuts with cheese and jam) and Old Town (Cetate), worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Bucharest time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
