About this tour
This short session covers Ortahisar Castle and the old town streets around its base. You see the tall rock outcrop riddled with openings, then the streets that have grown around it over generations. The stop compares this fortress with the better known one at Uçhisar nearby.
I start with a sound check facing the rock, then we move through the streets while you ask questions about its history. I explain the practical differences between the two fortresses in the area. At the end I send a short note on what we covered.
This suits anyone who wants to see beyond the most photographed sites in the region. It also suits a traveller comparing Ortahisar with Uçhisar before visiting either.

Ortahisar Rock Fortress 15 min
The camera looks up at the tall rock outcrop riddled with openings, used historically as a fortress and later for storage. I explain the difference between this and Uçhisar's castle nearby.

You follow the streets around the base, past old stone houses. I point out how the town has grown around the rock rather than replacing it.
