Fairy chimneys of Paşabağ on camera
Highlights
- Fairy chimneys with double caps
- Layered rock eroding at different rates
- A rougher texture up close
- Small openings once carved by monks
- Shape and history, explained together
About this tour
This session focuses on Paşabağ's fairy chimneys, known for the double caps stacked on several of them. You see the formations from a distance first, then the camera moves close enough to show the rock's actual texture and a few small carved openings. Together the stops explain both the shape and the history behind it.
I begin with a sound check facing the formations, then we move closer while you ask questions about the erosion. I point out the carved openings a little longer, since they are easy to miss from afar. At the end I send a short note on the geology we discussed.
This suits anyone drawn to Cappadocia's rock formations specifically rather than the region in general. It also suits a traveller who has seen photographs and wants the explanation behind them.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cappadocia before heading out.
-
Paşabağ Formations 21 min
The camera looks up at a cluster of fairy chimneys, several with double caps stacked on top of each other. I explain how the layered rock resists erosion at different rates to create this shape.
-
Close Rock Detail 21 min
You see the surface of one chimney up close, its texture rougher than it appears from a distance. I point out small holes once carved by monks who lived inside some of these formations.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Cappadocia: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Gözleme and Göreme, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
