Testi kebab, made and broken open, on camera
Highlights
- A sealed clay pot in the embers
- Meat and vegetables cooked for hours
- The pot cracked open at the table
- Steam released after slow cooking
- A dish specific to this region
About this tour
This session shows testi kebab from the fire to the table, a dish cooked slowly inside a sealed clay pot. You see the pot sitting in the embers, then watch it broken open to release the steam and the smell of the cooked meat and vegetables inside. The two stops trace the dish from start to finish.
I start with a sound check by the fire, then we move to the table while you ask questions about the cooking method. I explain the timing involved before the pot is ready. At the end I send a short note on the dish and its origin.
This suits anyone curious about Cappadocia's food beyond the usual mentions of local wine. It also suits a home cook wanting to understand a dish before attempting a version of it themselves.
Included
- Live video session with a local guide
- A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
- A short list of places and dishes to try later
Not included
- Food and drinks shown on camera
- Travel to the city

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
