Cardiff Bay's waterfront promenade
Highlights
- A Victorian clock tower on the water
- Old docks beside new buildings
- A bilingual poem cut into bronze
- Cardiff Bay's working port past
- A promenade built where ships once loaded
About this tour
This call walks the Cardiff Bay promenade, from the Victorian Pierhead Building to the modern arts centre nearby. You see how the old docks and the new waterfront sit right beside each other. I explain how this whole area changed from a working port to what it is today.
We start with a sound check by the Pierhead Building, then walk the promenade towards the arts centre, pausing at the poem cut into its facade. Questions come up throughout, and I send a short note on the bay's redevelopment afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in how old ports get repurposed. It also works well as a relaxed waterfront walk at any time of day.

- Live video walk with a local guide

Walking along the promenade, you approach the arts centre's bronze-clad front, and I read out a line from the bilingual poem cut through its facade.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
