Halepa's mansions, a quieter Chania
Highlights
- Neoclassical mansions, a different Chania
- A prince's former residence grounds
- European consuls once lived here
- A quieter nineteenth-century quarter
- A local's own childhood streets
About this tour
This session walks Halepa, a nineteenth-century quarter of neoclassical mansions quite different from the Venetian old town closer to the harbour. You see the streets where consuls and a prince once lived, explained by someone who grew up in one of these same houses. It stays within Halepa's quieter streets throughout.
I walk at a relaxed pace matching the neighbourhood's own mood, explaining each mansion's history as we pass, and take questions as they come. The comparison with the old town comes up naturally throughout.
This suits anyone curious about Chania beyond its most photographed harbour views. It also works well as a calmer session later in a visit.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
