- An open-air counterpart to the old town

About this tour
This session follows the Rhine promenade with barges passing on the water and the cathedral towers visible across the river. You see the cathedral from an angle most visitors never reach, framed by the working river in front of it. It moves along the water at an easy pace.
We walk steadily along the path, and I point out specific barges and what they are likely carrying as we go. The cathedral view comes about halfway through, and I let the frame rest there for a while. A short note on the river's shipping traffic follows by message.
It suits anyone who wants a calmer, more open-air counterpart to the closer cathedral sessions. It also pairs naturally with the Hohenzollern Bridge session for a fuller riverside picture.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cologne before heading out.
-
Promenade path 21 min
The camera follows the riverside path, and I point out barges passing on the Rhine, still one of Europe's busiest waterways for freight.
-
Cathedral across the water 21 min
From a clear point on the path, you see both cathedral towers rising above the rooftops across the river, a view most visitors on the other bank never get.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Cologne: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kölsch beer and Altstadt, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
