Campiello's Venetian lanes
Highlights
- Lanes too narrow for cars
- Old family names on doorways
- A hidden courtyard behind the street
- Venetian houses, still lived in
- Stories passed down from a local family
About this tour
This session walks Campiello, the old town's core of narrow Venetian lanes. You see the tall shuttered houses lining the streets too narrow for cars, and a quiet shared courtyard tucked behind the street front, with the old family names on doorways explained by someone who grew up hearing the stories behind them. It stays within this one old quarter.
I walk it slowly, since the lanes twist often and I want viewers to actually see the detail on each facade. Questions about the families and the buildings come up often, and I answer from what I heard growing up here.
This suits anyone who wants the old town's residential side explained rather than only its monuments. It also works well paired with the Saint Spyridon session nearby.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
