About this tour
This session follows the Georgian Military Road into Dariali Gorge, the narrow pass that has controlled movement between the Caucasus and the south for centuries. You see the road squeeze between sheer rock walls, then the scattered ruins of the fortress that once guarded it. It ends at the gorge's tightest bend, where the scale of the place is easiest to feel.
We keep moving steadily through the gorge rather than stopping too long in one place, since the road itself is the point here, and I pull over safely wherever there is room. I explain the history of each ruin as we reach it and answer questions as they come.
It suits anyone who wants the drama of the mountains explained rather than just filmed, and travellers planning their own trip along the same road.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Kazbegi before heading out.
-
Entering the gorge 17 min
The camera holds steady as the road narrows between sheer rock walls, and I point out how little space there has ever been for a road at all here.
-
Dariali fortress ruins 17 min
You see the scattered stone remains of a fortress that once controlled this pass, and I explain why whoever held Dariali controlled traffic between the Caucasus and the south for centuries.
-
The gorge's narrowest bend 17 min
We stop where the gorge closes in tightest, and the phone tilts up to show how far the cliffs rise on both sides.
-
Your questions 11 min
Time to ask anything about Kazbegi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Khachapuri and Gergeti village, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
