Croke Park and Dublin's GAA history
Highlights
- Ireland's largest stadium, explained
- A tragic day from 1920, remembered
- Gaelic games from parish to final
- Three generations of family history
- A museum entrance tracing the sport
About this tour
This session looks at Ireland's largest stadium and the sporting tradition it represents, told by someone whose own family has followed Gaelic games for three generations. You see the stadium's modern exterior and the museum entrance that traces the sport's history. It stays around the grounds outside the stadium, working from public streets.
After a short sound check outside the stadium, I walk the grounds stop by stop, explaining both the sport's history and the events of 1920 that are closely tied to this site. I take questions live as they come and send a short note afterwards on the museum's exhibits for anyone who wants to visit inside.
It suits anyone interested in Irish sporting history, and anyone curious about Gaelic games beyond what a scoreline can explain.

Itinerary

Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Dublin before heading out.
-
Croke Park's exterior stands 21 min
The camera takes in the stadium's modern stands from the surrounding streets, and I explain how a single tragic day in 1920 still shapes how the ground is remembered.
-
The GAA museum entrance 21 min
You see the museum entrance built into the stadium, and I point out how it traces Gaelic games from local parish matches to today's national finals.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Dublin: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Boxty and The Liberties, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
