Phoenix Park's deer herd and monuments
Highlights
- A wild deer herd since the 1660s
- A monument to the Duke of Wellington
- The field of a historic 1979 gathering
- Europe's largest enclosed city park
- A quiet early morning among the deer
About this tour
This early session moves through Europe's largest enclosed city park to see its wild deer herd and two of its major monuments. You see fallow deer at a respectful distance, a towering 19th-century obelisk, and the open field behind a major 20th-century gathering. It stays outdoors throughout, timed for the calmest part of the day to see the deer.
After a short sound check near the deer enclosure area, I move stop by stop, letting the animals and the monuments hold the screen before I explain their history. I take questions live as they come and send a short note afterwards on the park's other features for anyone who wants to explore further.
It suits anyone interested in wildlife and public monuments, and early risers who want the quietest part of the park before it fills up.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
