Fort Lovrijenac above the sea
Highlights
- A clifftop fortress standing apart
- A sheer drop straight to the sea
- A defence built independent of the walls
- A known filming location, explained
- A quieter stop outside the main walls
About this tour
This session climbs Fort Lovrijenac, a clifftop fortress just outside Dubrovnik's main City Walls, built to guard the western approach on its own. You see the steps up to the fort and then the upper terrace, with a sheer drop to the sea below and a spot the fort has been used for filming. It is a quieter stop than the main walls circuit.
We climb the steps with a sound check, then move to the terrace for the second stop, taking questions about the fort's separate defensive role. A short note follows once the call ends.
It suits anyone who wants Dubrovnik's defences explained beyond the main wall circuit. It also suits a shorter booking alongside a longer walls session.

The fort's approach 15 min
The camera climbs the steps up to Fort Lovrijenac, a clifftop fortress outside the main walls, and I explain why it was built standing apart from them.
-
The upper terrace 15 min
From the top terrace, I show the drop to the sea below and point out where the fort has been used as a filming location.

Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Dubrovnik: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Peka-cooked dishes and Old Town, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Zagreb time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
