About this tour

This session pairs the Rheinturm's own function as a working telecommunications tower with the view it offers over Medienhafen and the river. You see the district's layout from height after already knowing its buildings from the ground. It moves from street level to a high vantage point.

We start at the base for context on the tower's function, then the view opens up once we are higher. I keep the pace unhurried, since the view rewards time rather than a quick glance. Questions about the district come naturally, and I answer them as we go.

It suits anyone who wants to see how the city's modern district fits together from above. It also pairs well with the Medienhafen session for the ground-level view first.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Dusseldorf before heading out.

  2. Rheinturm base 15 min

The camera holds on the tower from ground level, and I explain its role as a telecommunications tower that doubles as the city's tallest public viewpoint.

  3. View from the deck 15 min

From partway up the tower, you see the Medienhafen and the river spread out below, and I point out how the whole district fits together from height.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Dusseldorf: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Rheinischer Sauerbraten (pot roast in a raisin sauce) and Altstadt, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Berlin time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
