About this tour

This session shows the Capela dos Ossos inside the Igreja de Sao Francisco, one of Evora's most visited sites, followed by the church's main nave next door. You see the chapel's walls and then the gilded altar in the nave, filmed slowly and without commentary that treats the space lightly. I trained as a sacristan's assistant before guiding, so I explain the chapel's history with the same care I learned there.

We begin with a quiet sound check outside the chapel, then move through it at an unhurried pace before continuing into the nave, leaving room for questions throughout. I send a short list of dates and names afterwards.

It suits travellers with a genuine interest in the chapel's history and purpose, approached respectfully rather than as a curiosity. This session is filmed calmly throughout and avoids any commentary that treats the space as a spectacle.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Evora before heading out.

  2. The chapel interior 15 min

The camera moves slowly along the chapel walls, and I explain that the arrangement was built centuries ago as a monument for reflection rather than a display, and why that context matters.

  3. The church nave 15 min

We step into the main church nave beside the chapel, and I point out the gilded woodwork altar that most visitors overlook after seeing the chapel itself.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Evora: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Ensopado de borrego (lamb stew) and Aqueduct quarter, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
