About this tour

This session moves around the grounds of Se de Evora, the fortress-like Gothic cathedral that dominates the old town's skyline. You see the mismatched twin towers, the carved figures around the main portal, and the quiet cloister courtyard beyond it. Between the three you get a sense of a building that grew and changed over several centuries.

We start with a sound check facing the towers, then move tower to portal to cloister, pausing at each for questions about the building's history. I send a short list of names and centuries once the session ends.

It suits anyone interested in medieval architecture and how a single building can carry several centuries of changes. This session views the cathedral from its grounds and courtyards rather than filming inside the main church.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Evora before heading out.

  2. The twin towers 17 min

The camera looks up at the cathedral's two mismatched towers from the square below, and I explain why one is capped in stone and the other in tile.

  3. The main portal 17 min

We move to the carved apostles around the main portal, and I point out which figures are original to the 13th-century construction.

  4. The cloister courtyard 17 min

You see the cloister's quiet courtyard from its entrance, and I explain how it was used by the canons who once lived around it.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Evora: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Migas and Praca do Giraldo area, worth a slower look.

  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
