About this tour

This session walks the courtyard of the Universidade de Evora, one of the oldest universities in Portugal, focusing on the blue and white azulejo panels that line its walls. You see the main courtyard and a tiled corridor where a single scene runs across several panels. It is a quieter side of Evora away from the main square.

We check the connection in the courtyard, then move to the tiled corridor for the second stop, taking questions about the tile scenes as we go. I send a short list of what was shown once the session ends.

It suits anyone interested in azulejo tile work and old academic buildings, and travellers who enjoy details easy to miss on a faster visit. This session covers the public courtyard and corridors, not any working lecture rooms.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Evora before heading out.

  2. The main courtyard 15 min

The camera crosses the 16th-century courtyard lined with blue and white azulejo panels, and I explain which faculty each surrounding building once housed.

  3. A tiled corridor 15 min

We stop along one tiled corridor, and I point out the scene painted across several panels that most visitors walk past without reading.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Evora: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Carne de porco a alentejana (pork with clams) and Historic centre, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking".
