Faro's marina and waterfront garden
Highlights
- Boats moored beneath old fortifications
- A harbour turned modern marina
- A shaded garden facing the town hall
- Waterfront linking harbour to old town
- A calm route into Faro's centre
About this tour
This session walks Faro's waterfront, from the modern marina beneath the old town walls to the shaded garden just beyond it. You see the boats moored under the fortifications, then the lawns and trees of Jardim Manuel Bivar leading toward the old town gate. It links the harbour side of Faro to its historic centre.
We check the connection at the marina, then move into the garden for the second stop, pausing for questions about the waterfront's history. I send a short list of what we covered once the session ends.
It suits anyone easing into Faro from the airport or the marina, and travellers who want a calm walk before the old town. This session stays along the public waterfront and garden paths, not inside any of the marina's businesses.
Included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Faro before heading out.
-
The marina 21 min
The camera moves along the modern marina beneath the old town walls, and I explain how this stretch of waterfront changed once it became a marina rather than a working harbour.
-
Jardim Manuel Bivar 21 min
We continue into the shaded garden between the marina and the old town gate, and I point out the town hall facing it across the lawns.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Faro: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Medronho (arbutus berry brandy) and Ria Formosa islands, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
