Finnieston, from industry to restaurants
Highlights
- A crane above a modern dining strip
- Industry replaced within decades
- A kitchen window facing the street
- Restaurants referencing an industrial past
- Finnieston's riverside story explained
About this tour
This session walks Finnieston, taking in a preserved dockside crane above a street now lined with restaurants. You see the crane's scale against the modern strip below it and a restaurant kitchen visible through its window. Stevie explains how this stretch of riverside changed use so completely within a couple of decades.
After a short sound check near the crane, the walk moves along the strip at an easy pace, pausing at a kitchen window, with questions welcomed throughout. Stevie answers as you go and sends a short list of his favourite spots afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in how a city repurposes its industrial past, and works well before booking a table in the area yourself. It also appeals to those curious about Glasgow's changing riverside.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
