The skyline, named building by building
Highlights
- A skyline named building by building
- Layout explained from above
- The city's geography made clear
- A view used for orientation, not just beauty
- Landmarks connected on the ground
About this tour
This session uses the view from Piazzale Michelangelo to explain Florence's layout rather than just admire it. You see the skyline panned slowly with each major landmark named, and the relationship between them explained as seen from above. The camera moves at a deliberate pace to keep each building identifiable.
We go landmark by landmark rather than describing the view all at once, since that makes it easier to follow. I explain how the layout connects on the ground as we go, and take questions on specific buildings.
It suits anyone who wants to understand Florence's geography before walking it at street level. It also works well as an orientation session early in a visit.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Florence before heading out.
-
Landmark identification 15 min
The camera pans slowly across the skyline, and I name each major landmark visible from the terrace in turn.
-
Layout explained 15 min
I explain how the landmarks relate to each other on the ground, since the view from above makes the city's layout clearer than walking it does.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Florence: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Crostini di fegatini and Santa Croce, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
