Galway's pub music, a listening call
Highlights
- Recordings from real Galway sessions
- How tunes are chosen and led
- A musician's own explanation
- Traditional session structure, explained
- Session nights shared after the call
About this tour
This short call goes deeper into how Galway's traditional music sessions actually work, using recordings from sessions I have played in myself rather than a live street walk. I explain how tunes are chosen and passed between musicians, and answer questions about the tradition directly from a player's experience. It suits someone who wants to understand the music rather than only hear it.
After a quick sound check I play a short recording to start, then the conversation follows whatever you are curious about, instruments, tune types, or how a session actually forms. I keep it conversational and send a short list of session nights afterwards for anyone visiting soon.
It suits music enthusiasts who want real depth on the tradition, and anyone who cannot make a live evening session but still wants the detail.

Questions about this tour
What will the call cover?
The guide talks you through Galway: where to go, what to eat, and answers to whatever you ask.
What happens if the call drops?
The guide will try you again straight away.
Can I ask the guide questions during the session, or is it a fixed script?
Anything, any time. Sessions leave room for your own questions throughout, not just at the end.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
