About this tour
This session covers Gaziantep Castle from its mound to the old town curving around its base. You see the fortress walls rebuilt across several empires, then the streets below that still follow the shape of the hill above them. Together the stops show how the city has always been anchored to this one central point.
I begin with a sound check facing the walls, then we move down into the old town while you ask questions about the different building periods. I point out where you can tell one era's stonework from another. At the end I send a short note on what we discussed.
This suits anyone who wants the practical history of the city's defences rather than only its food culture. It also suits a traveller orienting themselves before exploring the bazaar nearby.

The camera looks up at the fortress walls rebuilt by successive empires on the same central mound. I explain how the site has been used defensively since Roman times.
