I have guided in Gaziantep for eight years, and the mosaic museum is still where I send my own visiting family first, since the scale of what was rescued from Zeugma is hard to appreciate from photographs alone. On camera I try to hold on the larger floor pieces long enough for the detail to actually register. I also guide sessions at the old castle, where the mound at the centre of the city tells a much older story than most visitors expect. I keep my sessions formal and well researched, since both sites deserve a properly explained visit.
