About this tour

This session moves along the bay from Sopot's Monte Cassino street and pier to the modernist centre of Gdynia and its harbour ship, the Dar Pomorza. The guide explains how a resort town and a young port city grew up side by side with very different characters. It covers three distinct places along the same stretch of coast.

The call opens with a sound check, then moves between the four stops along the bay, with time for questions about the architecture and the resort's history. A short list of what to see in each town follows once the call ends.

This suits anyone interested in seaside architecture or Poland's interwar period, whether visiting the Tri-City area or not. It also suits anyone comparing Gdańsk with its two neighbours.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Gdansk before heading out.

  2. Monte Cassino street 21 min

The camera walks Monte Cassino street in Sopot, and the guide points out the Crooked House, its warped façade built to stand out among the resort town's older buildings.

  3. Sopot pier 21 min

Out on Sopot pier, said to be the longest wooden pier in Europe, the guide explains how this stretch of the Baltic coast became a resort and what the pier was originally built for.

  4. Gdynia modernist centre 21 min

Moving along the bay into Gdynia, the guide walks the modernist centre built in the 1930s, pointing out the clean lines that made this young port city look deliberately different from older Polish towns.

  5. Dar Pomorza and the harbour 21 min

The walk ends at the Dar Pomorza, a sailing ship kept in the harbour, and the guide explains why Gdynia built its identity around the sea in a way Sopot never needed to.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Gdansk: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kielbasa and Main Town (Główne Miasto), worth a slower look.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
