STAM and Citadelpark, Ghent's green museum quarter
Highlights
- An abbey turned city museum
- Three centuries under one roof
- A park built on an old fortress
- Ghent's greener, quieter quarter
- Museum architecture, explained from outside
About this tour
This session covers STAM, Ghent's city museum housed in a former abbey, and the Citadelpark beside it. You see the building's mix of construction from three different centuries, then walk into the park laid out on the site of an old military fortress. It combines one converted building with a proper stretch of green space.
We start with a sound check outside the museum, since the entrance can be busy with visitors. I move into the quieter park for the second stop and take your questions about the museum or the park's history as we go. A short reading note follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone who wants a mix of museum architecture and open space rather than another old street. It also works well earlier in the day before the park fills up.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
