About this tour

This session walks the cave quarter of Sacromonte from a row of whitewashed cave entrances to a viewpoint looking back across the ravine at the Alhambra. You see which homes are genuinely lived in, explained honestly rather than treated as a display. The route stays on the public path throughout, respectful of the residents along it.

We begin at the cave entrances with a short check of the light, then follow the path to the viewpoint, pausing to explain the practical reasons people settled here originally. I answer questions about daily life in the caves as we go.

This suits anyone curious about a genuinely unusual way of living rather than only its more famous evening reputation. It works well in the morning or early afternoon, when the quarter is quietest.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Granada before heading out.

  2. A row of cave entrances 21 min

The camera moves along a row of whitewashed cave entrances dug into the hillside, and I explain which ones are still lived in as ordinary homes rather than used for anything else.

  3. A view back over the valley 21 min

You see the hillside path open onto a view back toward the Alhambra across the ravine, and I point out how the cave dwellings' cool interiors made this an unusually practical place to live long before it became known for anything more.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Granada: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Remojón granadino and Albaicín, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
