  • The Guggenheim, seen from a distance

About this tour

This session widens Ane's shorter Guggenheim stop into a fuller look at the museum's relationship with the Nervión river. You see the titanium curves from the river-facing side, the road bridge that passes through the structure itself, and a view back at the museum from further along the riverside path. Ane explains how the building was designed around the existing bridge rather than the other way round.

The walk follows the river from the museum's edge outward, with Ane timing the final stop for a distant view that shows how much the surrounding area has changed. She answers questions about the building's engineering as they come up.

This suits anyone who enjoyed the shorter Guggenheim session and wants the fuller riverside picture. It also works well for viewers interested in how a single building can reshape a city's waterfront.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Bilbao before heading out.

  2. River-facing facade 17 min

The camera moves along the river-facing side of the museum, where the titanium curves seem to fold directly into the water below.

  3. Puente de la Salve 17 min

A road bridge runs straight through part of the museum's structure, and I explain how Gehry designed around it rather than asking for it to be rerouted.

  4. Riverside walkway 17 min

Following the river path, the camera looks back at the museum from a distance, showing how it now anchors a stretch of riverside that was once entirely industrial.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Bilbao: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pintxos and Abandoibarra, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
