About this tour

This session covers the show caves above Lake Thun, from the waterfall marking their entrance to a short stretch of lit passage inside. You see the cave mouth, a section of limestone formations, and the lake view from the terrace outside. Andreas tells the legend of Beatus, the hermit the caves are named after, alongside the geology itself.

He starts at the waterfall, letting its sound carry into the call before moving inside to quieter passages. He alternates between legend and geology throughout, and takes questions after each stop.

This suits anyone interested in either local folklore or natural history. It also works well paired with the Trümmelbach Falls session for a fuller look at the region's caves and waterfalls.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 7 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
