Sarıyer's morning fish market
Highlights
- Boats unloading at first light
- Catch moving straight into the market
- A short distance that keeps fish fresh
- Sarıyer's daily fishing rhythm
- Where the city's fish comes from
About this tour
This session watches Sarıyer's fish market at the hour boats are actually unloading, at the upper end of the Bosphorus. You see the catch come off the boats and move straight into the stalls a few steps away. Aslı, who grew up here, explains what determines a good catch on any given morning.
The call opens with a sound check at the dock, then moves to the market stalls as the catch is sorted. Aslı answers questions live and sends a short note afterwards on what was freshest that day.
This suits anyone curious about where Istanbul's fish actually comes from rather than only where it is served. It also pairs well with the Kanlıca session further along the shore.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
