The carved wooden villas of Majori
Highlights
- Carved wooden balconies, close up
- A resort built from fishing villages
- Protected 20th-century timber architecture
- Jomas Street, explained stop by stop
- A different side of a beach town
About this tour
This session walks Jomas Street in Majori and stops in front of one of the resort's protected timber villas. You see the pedestrian street that ties the resort together, then a close look at the carved fretwork balconies that mark the building's age. It focuses on the architecture that makes Jūrmala different from other Baltic beach towns.
I start with a sound check at the street entrance, then move at a slow pace so the woodwork stays sharp on camera, taking questions as details come up. A short note on the villa's history follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in wooden architecture or the history of European seaside resorts. It also works as a first look before a beach or forest session.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
