- Strings dipped in thickened grape juice
- Fresh bread, cheese and wine, laid out
- A traditional Kakhetian kitchen, on camera
About this tour
This session shows two Kakhetian kitchen traditions, baking tonis puri in a clay tone oven and making churchkhela by hand. You see the bread slapped against the oven's hot walls, walnuts threaded onto strings, and each string dipped into thickened grape juice before it dries. Fresh bread, cheese and wine are laid out on the same table as the guide explains each step.
The call opens with a sound check by the oven, then follows the two processes side by side, with time to ask questions as the dough and the walnuts are worked. A short list of the ingredients and the steps involved is sent afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in Georgian food traditions and how they are actually made rather than just eaten. It also suits those who want to try the recipes themselves afterwards.
Included

- A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
