About this tour

This session covers the top end of Hlavná ulica, where the Singing Fountain runs its evening pattern in front of the neo-Baroque State Theatre. You see the fountain choreographed to recorded music and then the theatre facade closing the square behind it. It is a short, atmospheric look at one of the old town's most photographed corners.

I time the session to catch the fountain running, then hold on the theatre facade for a few minutes once it finishes. Questions come in about both the fountain's mechanics and the theatre's history, and I answer them as we go. A short note on performance times follows for anyone interested in a later visit.

This suits anyone who wants a short, visual session rather than a longer historical walk. It also works well in the early evening, when the square is at its best.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Košice before heading out.

  2. Spievajúca fontána 15 min

You see the fountain running its evening pattern, choreographed to recorded music, a small local landmark most first-time visitors do not expect.

  3. Štátne divadlo Facade 15 min

The camera turns to the neo-Baroque theatre closing the top of the square, opened in 1899 and still in daily use.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Košice: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tokaj wine and Staré Mesto, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Bratislava time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
