From the south gate to the morning market
Highlights
- A quieter gate on the south side
- Twin domes easy to miss from below
- What actually grows on these hillsides
- A market most visitors never find
- Kotor's morning routine, explained
About this tour
This session moves from a quieter side gate to the town's own morning market. You see the smaller southern gate, a nineteenth-century Orthodox church in the main square, and the market stalls just outside the walls. It follows a route most visitors never quite piece together in one go.
I keep an easy pace between the gate and the church, then slow down properly at the market, since there is always something specific worth pointing out among the stalls. Questions about the produce are welcome throughout.
This suits anyone who wants to see where Kotor actually shops rather than only where it prays. It also suits early risers who want the market at its freshest.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

- A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Kotor before heading out.
-
South Gate 17 min
You see a smaller gate on the old town's southern side, quieter than the main entrance, and I explain why this side of town grew more slowly than the harbour front.
-
St Nicholas Church 17 min
The camera reaches a nineteenth-century Orthodox church in the main square, and I point out details in its twin domes that are easy to miss from a distance.
-
Kotor Market (Pijaca) 17 min
You see the stalls of the town's morning market just outside the walls, and I explain which produce actually comes from the bay's own hillsides rather than further inland.
-
Your questions 11 min
Time to ask anything about Kotor: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kačamak and Old Town, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
